A native of Ontario, Canada, Kevin Zegers started acting in commercials at the age of six. At eight, he landed his first big role in the feature film Life with Mikey, portraying Michael J. Fox's character as a boy. Zegers has appeared in numerous American films and television shows while remaining a Canadian resident. His credits include guest appearances on the hit show The X-Files, major roles in TV movies such as It Came From the Sky (1999) opposite Christopher Lloyd and Felicity: An American Girl Adventure (2005) with Marcia Gay Harden, and feature films such as Time Share (2000), co-starring Timothy Dalton.
Zegers first shot to prominence in Air Bud(1997), the first of several movies about the golden retriever. Air Bud: Golden Receiver (1998) followed the next year, and two subsequent movies,
Air Bud: World Pup (2000) and Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch(2002) went straight to video.
His career has taken him all over Canada, filming Shadow Builder(1997) in Ontario; the Hallmark Hall of Fame television movie Rose Hill (1997) in Quebec and Alberta; MVP: Most Valuable Primate(2000) in British Columbia; and Virginia's Run (2002) in Nova Scotia. In 1996 he even managed to squeeze in a regular role in the Canadian series Traders, filmed in Toronto.
By the time he was 20, only a few projects had required Zegers to work outside of the country, including the film The Acting Class(2000), written and directed by fellow Canadian Jill Hennessy but filmed in the U.S.; the TV series The Titans in 2000, filmed in Los Angeles; Time Share(2000) filmed in Malibu and Germany; and Treasure Island(1999), filmed on the Isle of Man.
Zegers, an avid athlete, played football and basketball on school teams while in high school, as well as playing for the Hollywood Knights celebrity basketball team while in California. Recent films include the critically-acclaimed TransAmerica (2005), which gained him much notice in Hollywood, and The Jane Austen Book Club (2007). In 2006 he won the Chopard Trophy for "Male Revelation" at the Cannes Film Festival.
